• Temiskaming Pleasure Horse Club - Bylaws and Rules


The purpose of the Temiskaming Pleasure Horse Club shall be:

To enhance, promote and develop the image of the modern equestrian.
To increase the safety consciousness of horse and rider.
To promote a spirit of comradeship and social goodwill among the members, and their guests.
To accept donations, gifts, legacies and bequests.
To educate members on the rules, guidelines and other ongoing business relating to the TPHC.

General Show Entry Rules and Regulations

  • A horse and rider shall not be allowed to compete unless proper entry is made and both horse and rider have fulfilled all requirements.
  • Show registration will close fifteen (15) minutes prior to division start time.
  • Entries shall not be accepted after registration has officially closed.
  • Entry numbers must be worn by all competitors when competing in Western Performance, English, and Pleasure Driving shows.
  • An exhibitor may enter one or more horses per class but each horse may only have one rider per class.
  • Exhibitors, owners and their guests must always act in a respectful and courteous manner towards other competitors, spectators, show officials and judges.
  • In all divisions, a rider may move up an age division, buy may not reverse for the rest of the season. Once s/he has moved up, s/he must remain in that division for the year.
  • It is the exhibitor's responsibility to ensure horse and rider are registered under the same name at each show or event. This will ensure point allotment is correctly done.
  • Competitors must participate in a minimum of three (3) out of five (5) shows to obtain a year end high point award.
  • There must be a minimum of two (2) participants per class. Only, in the event that the minimum is not met, the riders will be given the following options: Option 1: The participant may move up an age division and receive points for their age division in accordance to any placing. Option 2: The participant may ride the class as a schooling class. No placing or points will be allotted for a schooling class.
  • TPHC is a non-breed specific club and is therefore open to all horse breeds regardless of age, size or color.
  • Riders and owners must maintain control of their horses at all times.
  • Horses must be treated with respect, dignity and compassion. Humane treatment of the horse is required at all times.
  • Appropriate tack must be used for each division. TPHC judges reserve the right to inspect and disallow any inappropriate equipment.
  • Stallions are the direct responsibility of the owner and should only be handled by experienced members of 18 years or more. Stallions are not to be left unattended at any time.
